Eind 2003 is onze dochter Maaike Vroemen, overleden aan Leukemie. Ten tijde van de ziekenhuisopname is het idee geboren om een stichting op te richten om meer te kunnen betekenen voor mensen in een zelfde situatie. Eind 2004 is Stichting Mighty Maaik officieel opgericht en op dit moment zijn we druk bezig de stichting vorm te geven.

De stichting heeft als kerndoel: Het verblijf in een ziekenhuis/verzorgingstehuis draaglijker maken voor patienten en direct betrokkenen.

In de komende weken zal er hard gewerkt worden aan verdere oprichting en huisstijl van de stichting. Ik verzoek u dan ook over enige tijd de site www.mightymaaik.nl nogmaals te bezoeken voor meer informatie.\

On July 5th 2003 our daughter Maaike Vroemen, then 18 months old, was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML). AML is a rare form of bloodcancer with little children. (for disease information: www.leukemia.org).\
On November 7th 2003 Maaike died, after 4 months of practically 24/7 hospitalization and treatment. During our stay in the hospital we experienced great help from all the staff, medical and non medical, but their resources are limited.

This is why my wife and I started a foundation.

December 2004 we founded THE MIGHTY MAAIK Foundation.

The purpose of the Mighty Maaik Foundation is trying to make a stay in a hospital more bearable for patients and the people closely involved, through entertainment.
